Wedding Portfolio 2010/11

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

I am back online! I had some issues with my internal hard drive last week. The system shows warning on the failing hard drive, and the whole system was slowing down. I was lucky that the system didn’t crash, and I was still able to boot into the system to back up all  the files. Total data transferred was estimated to be close to 1.5TB. That’s inclusive of data transfer for my external drive, as well as backing up the core system on my internal drive.

Bride waiting for Groom's arrival.

That unforeseen circumstances was pretty much the reason to the delay for this entry. I have planned to release this entry right after the last one on wedding. It was about time for me to refresh my portfolio compilation with some images from the recent assignments and events.

Cloudy Sunset at Kuching Waterfront.

This week’s picture of the week features a cloudy sunset at Kuching Waterfront. I thought of catching some dramatic sunset at waterfront, instead, I had drama in other sense. Despite signs of rain, the boatmen still offer their service to those who wants to cross the river.

Ben & Berenice, Kuching

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

I’ve been kept busy with my work schedule lately, and I haven’t really got time to tweak this new theme just yet. Everything is still in a mess, and I had to scout for new Gallery plug-in after Simple Viewer decides to change its feature in their latest release. So, in this entry, I’m putting this plugin by DM production to test. I’m quite pleased with what I have so far. I hope you all would like it.

For this entry, I am posting one of my assignments last year. I had a chance to shoot for my friend Edwin Lay for this occasion. It was a great honor to be able to to witness the celebration between Ben and Bernice. I’d like to thank Edwin once again for the opportunity.

Speech by Bride's father, a well delivered speech, touching everyone's heart in the hall.

I shall keep this entry short, and leave some of my favorite pick in the DM Album below. The slideshow should autorun, and if you feel like viewing it in Fullscreen, by all means please do. Please feel free to give feed me with your experience on the DM album, the new plugin I have installed here.

Cheers!

Night Portraiture with Djane Geri

I managed to get short portrait session with Geri couple days ago, when she was back in town for a few days. The scheduling itself is already a challenge, the timing of shooting, as well as the shooting location, are just the other challenges to this session. Here is just one for the teaser, and I’ll be back with more to come soon.

One of the iconic landmark in Kuching — General Post Office.

It’s Monday again. I have decided to make Mondays a “Picture of the Week” day. This week, I am featuring an iconic landmark in Kuching, the General Post Office. This is also a favorite shooting location for the local shutterbugs.

I still have a lot to tweak on the curent theme, and also I need to look for new image gallery plug-in to replace Simpleviewer. I hope to get this sorted out within this week.

Picture of the Day

Old vs Young, Small vs Big, Conventional Digital vs Innovative Digital

Technology changes our lifestyle everyday. With the emergence of new technology and gadgets everyday, things are just not the way they were back in the days. A decade ago, if you own a mobile phone with TFT color screen, you would be regarded one of the leading pack. In today’s world, it is a norm to see primary school kids, or event young toddlers, having iGadgets (iPhone or iPad) in their hands.

I like how the three subjects in the front row connect in this photo. The men in red, whom I believe is most senior among the three, held up his compact digital camera. A decade ago, such camera is considered luxurious item, not many can afford to buy it. Meanwhile the kid in yellow, held his iPad 2 up high, trying to compose a shot with his device, while the man in the middle looked on.

The senior used a compact, old technology, while the junior has an innovative technology at his disposal. That’s just the way it is now, isn’t it?
