KL through 50mm: Little Bally Cafe, Subang Jaya
After a stroll in the park (I didn’t actually go to KLCC Park), I head off to Subang Jaya after dinner with my friend in Damansara Uptown. I didn’t take picture there, was too darn hungry that time. LOL!
Â
The meet up place with my friend is Little Bally at SS15 Subang Jaya. I must say my friend was kind enough to bring me around places that evening. He picked me up from Kelana Jaya LRT Station, then we headed to Damansara Uptown, then we headed to Subang Jaya, then after that we dropped by somewhere at Old Klang Road to kill thirst before sending me back to Wangsa Maju. He stays at Equine Park at Seri Kembangan there. LOL! What a distance to cover! Thanks man.
Â
Alright, back to the main point. It was a quick meet up with my friend, Emily. I’ve known her since she was a ‘kid’ back in the university days. She was just a little girl when I first got to know her, and now she’s a fine, pretty young lady now.Â
Â

Emily with peace sign!
Hehe.Â
Â
The main reason I had to go all the way to Subang to meet her up was, she has got quite a busy schedule during my stay in KL. The last time we met up was like erm.. erm.. probably 3 years ago. Since she was singing part time in the Little Bally Cafe, so that was the only arrangeable meet up that week. Why not eh? The last time I listened to her performance, it could probably stretch to 4+ years back. LOL!
Â
Some more photos of Emily performing that night.Â
Â

She was singing since 9:30pm to around 12+ a.m. Almost non-stop.Â
Â

I must say, her performance has improved a lot since the last time I saw her performing live. Much better control already. (LOL! I suddenly talk like a judge for talent reality show.)
Â

One of the most impressive moment was when Emily performed One Night in BeiJing, originally performed by Taiwanese rock band Shin.) She was performing the high pitch vocal part. I was totally stunned, and paid 110% to her that night. LOL!Â
Â

I wish we had more time catching up, it was getting quite late already, so we all have to head home for rest. I have yet to really rest since I touched down in Kuala Lumpur that day! It was only Day 1 of 9! LOL!
Â
Â
I snapped this tribal decoration on the cafe’s wall. Interesting eh?Â

Â
And on my way back, I saw Sri Aman in PJ/KL that time. Hehe. I think this should be somewhere along the Federal highway, heading into PJ Oldtown.Â

Â
So that wraps up Day 1 in KL. 1 down, 8 to go. LOL!

KL through 50mm: KLCC Stroll
So after my brief preview of the Pikom PC Fair, I went for a stroll around KLCc, before and after meeting up with a friend there.
Â
Some of the snap shots I took when I was chilling out in Chinoz.Â

People eating at Chinoz, I didn’t try the food, so I have no idea how the food tastes like.
Â
Â

Look at the beer! Towering high! Remember, it’s only a Friday afternoon, late afternoon. Hehe. That item costs about MYR 130, I think. Don’t remember already.
Â

Local Malaysians, and tourists alike, they all hangout here in Chinoz, chilling out.
Â

This dude was nice enough to strike a pose for my camera. Hehe. I think he might be an Italian, what do you think?
Â
I was there until late evening, my friend had to leave for her appointment later that night, so I took a stroll around KLCC before I head home. The towers are undoubtably one of the most amazing sights you can get in Malaysia at night. When all the lights are all lit up, it just mesmerizes you.Â
Â

The summit shot I.
Â

The summit shot II: Too much space in the sky?
Â
Thinking it will be bit dull if I go for conventional shot at the Malaysian-proud multi-million towers, I decided to add some abstract elements to it. Hence the following two shots.
Â

Abstract Painting over the Towers. I think someone did this before, not sure where or when I saw it before.Â
Â

The Abstract Portrait of Tower I/II.Â
Â

Different perspective of the tower, it looks a bit sci-fi here.
Â

Like a space station, or some sort eh?
Â
That is almost it, for my Day 1, but not quite. I was heading to Subang Jaya later on that night. OMG, so tiring! LOL!Â
Â
That will be up next, after the ‘flashback’ to some of the pending posts before I left for the KL Trip.

Bridal Photography Contest @ tHe Spring Part 2
A continuation from the previous post.
Â
Let’s focus more on the fashion parade. I tried quite hard to wrestle my way to get a decent spot to snap a shot. LOL!Â
Â

She appears in the local run way quite frequent, you see her a lot in the local fashion shows these days.
Â

The same dude I mentioned in the previous post, now sporting a all-exposing shirt. LOL! I have to train for 1 year before I can put on that shirt.
Â

Look at his body art, and pay closer attention to his back. Cool eh? Hmm.. but it’s nothing near Michael Scofield’s in the TV hit Prison Break.
Â

Sexy back?
Â

I caught someone’s flash again.
Â

Shooters. (Note: I think I caught someone’s flash yet again, on the far left there.)
Â
I find this rather funny, the dude in white is trying to instruct the model to pose during a fashion parade. Hmm.. Well, not sure if he got her attention that time or not.Â
Â

“Pose right sikit..”
Â

“… okok, now left sikit lagi..”Â
Â
Â
I like this the best of all.
She’s also one of the familiar faces on the local runways, you get to see her pretty often in the fashion shows in recent times.Â
Â

Â

Making her entrance to the stage.Â
Â

Sweet, don’t you think so?Â
Â
That’s all for the event. KL Through 50mm series will resume next. ![]()

Bridal Photography Contest @ tHe Spring Part I
This event took place on the 13 July, same day as the ones I mentioned in the last few posts - Rainforest World Music Festival and Boulevard 3-on-3 Basketball.Â
Â
I dropped by tHe Spring shopping mall with the intention to check out the event, but I had no idea what the programs are like, and when they’re going to be. By the time I reached there, the mall, at least the stage area, was loaded with photographers, rambographers, etc. It was seriously crowded. I couldn’t even get a decent spot to snap shots. LOL!Â
Â
Here are some of the photos I took that day, I was armed with EOS 350D with EF 50mm f/1.8 II mounted. I was without my speedlite.Â
Â

Hmm, she seemingly paused momentarily to pose for the dude hidden behind the bush.
Â

Just look how crowded it was, and how bad my position was. LOL! The model was on the far left cladding in blue dress.Â
Â

Can you count how many DSLRs are there in the picture?
Â

If you’re done with the one above, try this next. LOL! No prize given for right guess. LOL!
Â

Look, even this kid was also armed with a Nikon D300! >.<
Â

Big dude with Nikon D300, and small dude with Nikon D300. (Extra: The Big Dude is Leng Teck Chiang, you’ll probably see his work and name quite a few times in DCM Malaysia. He has got his work featured in the reader’s feature page few times before this.)

Canon L-lens, I wonder when I can own one of my own?Â
Â
Â
How did they get up there? LOL! The floor is yet to be opened for public yet. They definitely aren’t member of public. That’s how, and why, they’re there.
Â
So, there’ll be more post on the models tomorrow. Well, I didn’t have much shot that day, so just post the few I captured that day.
Â
Here are some for previews.
Â

Simple and elegant?
Â

Handsome and beauty.
Â

This dude was in the Boulevard 3-on-3 basketball in the morning as well! We played against him earlier.

My KL Trip through 50mm: PC Fair Sneak Peak
My initial plan after I touched down in KL was a lunch appointment with an old friend in KL City. It didn’t happen as she had meeting going on that day, so lunch had to be rescheduled. With that, I have got some free slot in the afternoon.Â
Â
Hence, I decided to have a sneak preview at the PC Fair in the KL Convention Center. I just thought I should check on the items to be offered in the fair before I start shopping the next day.
Â
One of the common sights you get in Pikom PC Fair in KL.Â

One of the attractions in Pikom PC Fair in KL.
Â

Shutterbugs getting busy.Â
Â

These dudes were proud with their catch that evening. Hehe.Â
Â
I was there around 3+pm, and it wasn’t that crowded that time. I was pretty comfortable in shooting around the halls. I managed to get some clean shots on the models there.Â
Â

White Kimono girl in OKI Booth
Â

She looks tired, doesn’t she?
Â
And guess who I met in the PC Fair? It was quite a pleasant surprise to meet one of the Beijing Olympic mascots there in the KL Convention Center.
Â
Meet Fuwa Huanhuan!
Â
Â

Fans were thrilled to see Huanhuan. LOL!
Â

Fuwa…
Â

Fuwa…

Fuwa tried to be extra cute! LOL!
Â
Â

Â

Â

Â
So much for the sneak preview, quite a lot of pictures here. LOL. Well, we’ll look into the PC Fair more next time.Â
 Â

Photo Note: I forgot to on my speedlite when Fuwa stroke this pose for me. =_=”
Â
See you next post!

Boulevard 3-on-3 Basketball
A month ago, I had a chance to compete in a 3-on-3 basketball competition. The last time I was playing for this 3 versus 3 format basketball competition, it was back in the varsity days. That was when I was so much lighter. LOL!
Â

Â
Boulevard was the main organizer, and venue was set just outside the shopping mall in Kuching. Well, honest feedback from me, I thought we had done better in organizing the competition back in our university days than they had done with this one. Due to some miscommunication, my team had to play with one man short all the way. It was all 2 against 3 in favor of our opposing teams, as we fail to field a female player in the lineup. Teams must field at least one female player during a game.
Â

Â
It was quite absurd. They didn’t even mention this condition earlier in their rules and regulation. It was more like a last minute change. Â
Â

Â
Well, we can’t undo what’s been done now, and there’s no point complaining so much now. Despite the handicap, we didn’t do too bad either. We played 4 games in total, and won 1, draw 1 while losing 2. For the draw, we were defeated in penalties. LOL! That sounds like football match, doesn’t it?Â
Â
When the score line is still deadlocked at the end of the match time, teams will go through shootout at free throw line to determine the winner. The two other games we lost, we lost by the slimmest margin possible, by 1 and 3 points. I can’t really recall the score line now.Â
Â
Anyways, here are the photos from that day. LOL! I wasn’t there to play ball only, I was there to shoot some photos as well. LOL! Shutterbug! All photos are shot entirely with my mooncake lens, prime EF 50mm f/1.8.Â
Â

Looks like I wasn’t the only shutterbug there. Hehe. When 350D meets 1D MkIII. (Not sure if it’s MkIII or not, but I was quite sure it was a 1D).
Â
Some of the actions that day.

2 vs 1.
Â

Goes up strong for the layup.
Â

Recompose the tempo.Â
Â

Forcing a layup.

Driving force.
Â

Shoot ‘em up!
Â

So near, yet so far.
Â

Side event: Shoot free throw to win freebies!Â
Â
Â

Rehydrating.
Â

Dejected.

Trapped in between two towers.
Â

Looking up into the sky.
Â
Here are some of my personal favorites.Â
Â

Dance a tango?
Â

I like this a lot. Can you see a “Sabah” in this pic? LOL!
Â

Where’s the head?
Â

I like the shadows.
Â
There are more photos here. Most of the photos are straight from camera, without any adjustments.Â
